ABOUT ME
I’m Evan, a Documentary Wedding Photographer based in Northampton, I work all over the UK photographing weddings in a candid, natural way that tells the true story of your day.
Now this is the part I absolutely hate, writing about myself. I’m sure most people do too so here goes.
My love for photography started when I was given my first camera at the age of nine, I took that camera everywhere with me and fell in love with taking photos. Since then, I’ve never looked back and even though photography is my job, I would still consider it a hobby as I enjoy it just as much whether I’m working or going out in my own time.
Being a wedding photographer is a pretty special job. I love spending my days surrounded by people celebrating love, enjoying each other’s company, laughing, dancing, and making the most of the day. In my opinion, a working life doesn’t get much better than this and I feel incredibly lucky!
If you like my work and think we’d get along, and you like the idea of not being bossed around on your big day, please do get in touch. I’d love to hear from you. if you have any questions then feel free to look at my FAQs below and maybe it can help answer some of your questions
FAQs
We don't like our photos taken - How does it work?
Well you're just like me then as I hate having my photo taken, and that’s why I stay behind the camera. It's not as scary as it seems, trust me! If you choose an engagement session, we can work through the awkward giggles, create some gorgeous photos, and you'll feel like seasoned pros by the time your wedding comes around. But if you don't fancy that, don't worry - we won't do pose-y, or scary, we'll just take a walk together on the day and capture the sweetest of portraits whilst putting you at ease.
Do you travel?
Absolutely! Wherever you're headed, take me with you!
I'm based in Northampton, but have covered Lincoln, Leicester, Essex, Peterborough, Oxfordshire and Stoke-on-trent to name a few. If you are further than 100 miles from my home in Northampton, then there may be a small additional fee for travel.
How will the group shots work?
The question of where and when they will be taken depends on a few variables:
1: If your ceremony and reception venues are different then which one would you like to use?
2: Will there be enough space for the group shots at your ceremony venue? certain ceremony venues may not have the space for the bigger group shots and in these cases they may need to be taken at the reception venue or vice versa.
3: Will the weather behave? Sometimes you will find that even though you may have planned of having them at your ceremony venue the weather may not agree. In these circumstances we can talk it through on the day and decide if you will brave the rain or wait to take them a little later.
In my opinion I do prefer to take my group shots straight after the ceremony as your guests will normally find group shots the most boring and/or awkward time of the wedding, and would much rather get it over and done with so they can enjoy the rest of the day stress free. If you are having your groups shots done at your reception then do take into consideration it may take a little longer getting everyone together.
On the pre wedding questionnaire that you will be sent I will ask for a group shot list and request that you choose someone from your wedding party that knows the most people and can shout the loudest. This helps to organise your guests and get them in the right photos at the right time.
Do we need to feed you on the wedding day? Do you have any dietary requests?
I won’t lie – I LOVE food, and when working (which is pretty tiring) I really love when I’m given a nice hot meal. I don’t need to be fed a three-course wedding meal – although I won’t turn it down! I have no specific dietary requirements – I’m not keen on mushrooms but will wolf it down if that’s what’s on offer!
Do you bring a second photographer?
I work quickly and like to be as unobtrusive as possible so generally work alone, but where necessary I can bring a second shooter. This will normally only be required with larger weddings or if you want both wedding couples prep to be captured on the day. I am more than happy to chat about this and give you more details on your initial meeting.
Will the photos be in colour or black and white?
I shoot in colour and turn the ones I think will look good black and white. On special request I can turn your whole gallery black and white if this it more to your liking.
How and when will we receive the photos?
I'll send over a couple previews next day for you to share in all your newly-wed excitement, then the rest will be delivered around 3-6 weeks, depending on the season. I'll send over an online gallery and if your package includes the engraved wooden photo box, and usb this will also be delivered to you within the 3-6 weeks for you to enjoy your photos in the flesh.
Are you insured?
I am, for your peace of mind and mine.
How much editing do you do?
I personally hand edit every photo, adjusting tone, contrast, cropping to make you look your best. I am happy to cover small blemishes on request but I’m a photographer not a digital artist. If you do want more extensive retouching on some photos, I can get you a quote from the experts I pass this type of work onto.
What happens after booking?
I love to keep in touch. Some clients like following me on Facebook or Instagram, quite handy for seeing other weddings and stealing some ideas! 1-2 months before the big day I’ll touch base again and send you a link to a details form and questionnaire (along with a balance invoice – sorry!) I am also more than happy to set up a call 2-4 weeks before your wedding to go through the final details and to set up a more concrete plan of your day.
We like what we see, what now?
Perfect! Just fill out the contact form, and tell me a little about your plans - I look forward to hearing from you!
